John was a former Prison Service manager and National Trainer for Her Majesty’s Prison Service for over 16 years before forming Resolution Training Ltd. 

John has worked with some of the most dangerous and violent prisoners in the country during his time at HMP Wakefield. Whilst at HMP Wakefield John worked on the CSC (Close Supervision Centre). This unit housed prisoners who typically have received whole life sentences and are deemed to be too dangerous to be housed and associate with other prisoners. Whilst on this unit John devised and implemented several initiatives to help reduce the incidence of violence. These initiatives have since been adopted and rolled out to other similar units. John was later asked to join the Training Department at HMP Wakefield eventually becoming the manager responsible for writing and delivering a diverse training curriculum to over one thousand members of staff. During this time John win several awards from the Governing Governor at HMP Wakefield for designing an innovative training package for staff that was later adopted by the entire Prison Service.

John left HMP Wakefield after being approached by a Senior Governor responsible for delivering training to the whole of the Prison Service Estate in England and Wales. John was responsible for delivering and implementing courses in many specialities including Incident Command

John has also studied and practised karate since he was six years old. John fought in competitions and feels most importantly that this sport taught discipline and how to deal with confrontation and threat with the least possible force.

Since leaving the Prison Service John has set up Resolution Training Limited. This company specialises in delivering the courses advertised as well as writing bespoke, individualised packages for clients. Resolution Training also subcontracts for other companies delivering courses such as Lone Worker/Self-Defence, Control and Restraint, Incident Command, Hostage Negotiation, RIPA and CHIS. We are happy to do so for your company (your discretion is assured). We have delivered training courses for many large organisations such as Serco, G4S and Sodexo.
