Lone Worker Training

So many people now work on their own. As employers we have a duty of care to ensure our staff have the skills and knowledge to reduce the risks associated with lone working. This course is suitable for a large verity of workers ranging from NHS staff, probation staff, retail staff to lorry drivers. There was a shocking 70,555 NHS staff were assaulted in 2015-16, according to NHS Protect figures. This is up 4% on the previous year and these statistics are from just one employer. Lone working safety devises are a great safety tool and are highly recommended however they do not stop staff being assaulted. Our half day Lone Worker training is designed to give your staff the knowledge and confidence to be situationally  aware of their surroundings when working alone. Our lone worker training will reduce the potential for assault happening. This course can be combined with Self Defence/Personal Safety course making it a full day course ensuring that your employees stay as safe as possible. This course will help you ensure you meet your legal responsibilities as an employer. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 states:

(2)Without prejudice to the generality of an employer’s duty under the preceding subsection, the matters to which that duty extends include in particular—

(c)the provision of such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of his employees;

 

Course objectives:

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Understand why situational awareness is so important.
  • Tips on how to keep safe when lone working.
  • Know the importance of de-escalation.
  • Demonstrate de-escalation techniques.
  • Use communication skills effectively.
  • Recognise the signs of aggression.
  • Know what employers’ and employees responsibilities are with lone working.
  • Consider risks – the factors that should be considered when thinking about personal safety.
  • Know how to handle confrontational situations.

De-escalation  and Conflict Management Training

Our  half day De-escalation and Conflict Management training is designed to give your staff the knowledge and confidence to reduce the risk of harm to themselves when faced with a potentially violent situation. This course can be combined with our Self Defence/Personal Safety course making it a full days course ensuring that your employees stay as possible. This course will help you ensure you meet your legal responsibilities as an employer. The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 states:

Conditioning and Manipulation awareness training

This three hour course demonstrates to delegates how prisoners condition staff, how staff condition staff and how we condition ourselves. We look at how conditioning and manipulation started in the institutions such as the Prison Service and the possible devastating consequences of successful conditioning. We explain and explore the seven steps of conditioning and how to effectively counter conditioning tactics used by prisoners.

Course objectives:

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Understand and describe what is meant by the term ‘conditioning’.
  • Understand how and why prisoners condition staff, how staff condition other staff members and how we condition ourselves.
  • Understand and describe the seven steps of conditioning.
  • Understand and put into practice counter conditioning and manipulation techniques.

 

Inquest awareness

Inquest awareness is a half day course which enables delegates to understand the purpose of the Coroner’s inquest, how the proceedings are conducted and the verdicts that can be recorded.

Course objectives:

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Understand what an inquest is and how it works.
  • Know and understand the range of verdicts available.
  • Effectively and competently provide evidence during an inquest.

 

Rub down and Metal detecting searching

This course explains the procedures of how to effectively carry out  a level A and Level B rub down search on both male and female persons including the use of a metal detector.  This course is ideal for schools, colleges and event hosting organisations such as arenas. The course lasts half a day.

Course objectives:

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Lawfully and respectfully search a person.
  • Search with dignity.
  • Explain to and reassure the person being searched about the procedure.
  • Search personal belongings and areas such as lockers and rooms.
  • Search for items used to prevent detection by searching or metal detectors.
  • Understand and know what to do with confiscated items.

 

Gap year travel safety course

Travelling in a foreign country is always exciting but it can be daunting. In an increasingly dangerous world this course is designed  to give young people the knowledge and skills to recognise, avoid and deal with risks and dangers they may face when travelling on their own or as part of a group. This course is ideal for schools, colleges and universities. The course lasts half a day.  Individual private courses available on request.

  • Effectively research their destination identifying potential risks and problems.
  • Passports, visas and documentation.
  • What to take.
  • First aid.
  • What to do in an emergency.
  • Staying fit and healthy.
  • How to stay in touch.

Business travel safety course

An essential course for companies who have a duty of care to staff travelling aboard. This course is designed to assist both those who frequently or infrequently travel aboard on business.

The course covers:

  • Guidance on issues such as natural disaster, political unrest, kidnap, victim of crime, arrival in country meet and greet procedures.
  • Guidance on local culture and customs.
  • Can include guidance on specific country threats.
  • Can be adapted to include accompanying families.
